France-Cameroon cooperation: MINJEC receives France Volontaire Delegate in Yaounde

Youth affairs minister, Mounouna Foutsou has recieved Yann Delaunay, Delegate General of France Volontaire in audience on July 25, 2022 in Yaoundé.

According to Yann Delaunay, the cooperation between France Volontaire and the Ministry of Youth affairs and Civic Education (MINJEC) is a major priority, as an extreme actor in promoting the integration of young people in Cameroon, with the establishment of programs around the issue of civic service and the employability of young people.

Volunteering in Cameroon is being partially taken into account, it is then that France Volontaire is responsible for developing it throughout the territory. It is also an opportunity to allow young Cameroonians to go to France and vice versa.

At the start of the audience, the Delegate General of France and his companions naturally received the Minister's word of welcome, with an exchange that followed suit with the subject of projects and programs, already underway at the Ministry of Youth affairs and Civic Education in Cameroon.

While evoking the law on volunteering recently promulgated by the President of the Republic, the purpose of which is to promote and popularize this practice among the Cameroonian populations.

The issue of socio-economic integration programs, in particular the Diaspora local youth Joint-venture initiative was discussed, which is a program to help the return and integration of young people from the Diaspora.

When this is done, then it will be worth recalling that the technical sessions will make it possible to densify the collaboration between the two organizations for the benefit of young volunteers.

"We hope that your friendly visit today will further strengthen these ties of cooperation". The boss of MINJEC also adds: “France Volontaires has done a lot with the Ministry of Youth and Civic Education”, Youth affairs minister Cameroon, Mounouna Foutsou.

Yann Delaunay, recalled that his presence in Cameroon is related to the official visit of the President of the French Republic to Cameroon of which he is part of the Delegation.

“The challenge for me is to see how to develop our common action and find the means to achieve it”, the august guest mentioned.

He expressed hopes to find the massive presence of young Cameroonians in his country, France, within the framework of the French civic service for exchanges of experiences with French volunteers.

Highlighted the law of reciprocity between Cameroon and France which, according to him will allow the development of civic service.

It should be noted that France Volontaires has been present in Cameroon since 1966 as a privileged partner of the Ministry of Youth affairs and Civic Education through several forms of activity.

This is the Sponsorship of the 1st International Volunteering and Solidarity Fair in 2015 by the Minister of Youth, as well as the invitation from the Minister of Youth to the celebrations of the 10th anniversary of France Volontaires in Ivry.

It is also a question of building the capacities of the members of the Platform of Volunteering Actors in Cameroon on one hand, and the celebration of the Youth Day of Cameroon on the other hand, without forgetting the celebration of the Day International Volunteering.
