Quater heads and representatives of some religious and educational estabilishments in Nkwen, Bamenda have received ant covid19 kits from the Fon of Nkwen, his Majesty Fon Azehfor III.
The distribution exercise took place on Sunday June 28th, as recipients benefitted from over one hundred (100) Hand Wash Stations and six hundred (600) litters of liquid soap, as part of measures to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the Nkwen Fondom.
The Fon was thankful and expressed satisfaction about the success of the event.
"I want to thank you all for the sacrifice you have made despite this hard times to see in to that, we stay safe from Covid-19 because of the special love you have for us. I will be paying unannounced visit to quarters and if I realize that, any quarter head is not doing what he is supposed to be doing for the sustainability of the project, he will be fined to bring ten goats, a basket of kola nut , crates of palm wine and many others." He said.
The donations are part of a two-phase project sponsored by Nkwen sons and daughters at home and abroad under the umbrella of the Nkwen Cultural and Development Association (NCDA).
Phase one of the project involved the training of volunteers from all the 58 quarters of Nkwen on ways to halt the spread of the corona virus, which took place at the Nkwen Fon’s Palace and the volunteers were sent to their quarters to sensitize the indigenes on COVID-19.
Phase two of the project, is a follow up of other initiatives that have seen mass distribution of face masks and sanitizers will ensure the presence of at least one 220 liters capacity hand wash station and soap in all of the fifty-eight quarters of the Fondom.
Some 42 stations will also be placed at strategic locations including schools, churches and markets around Nkwen.
His Royal Majesty Fon Azehfor III was accompanied by the Divisional Officer of Bamenda III, Mayor of Bamenda III council, Regional Delegate of Health for the North West Region and other religious and educational leaders, in the distribution excercise.
