Youths from different Civil Society Organizations in the North West Region have been trained to prevent and counteract violent extremism in their different spheres of interaction within Society.
This activity comes under the banner of Commonwealth's Silver Jubilee Celebrations in Bamenda, done under the theme "Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism", urging actors in different Communities to promote Peace in the Crisis hit Region.
Youths were cautioned to be actors that promote Peace not factors to promote and counter Violence extremism. Due to the armed conflict in the North West Region, the youths who form the active group of the population are poised to be actors of peace.
The Minister Delegate to the Ministry of External Relations incharge of Cooperation with the Commonwealth, H.E Minister Mbayu Felix appreciated the youths for their participation in the Peace building process, be informed and communicate Peace in every channel possible, for the return of Peace in the North West Region.
Some Excombattants from the DDR Centre North West took part in the workshop and raised concerns about their security when intergrated into Society, Eshu Emmanuel SP at the DDR centre possed this worry and hoped that society will tamper Justice with mercy when the time comes.
Other worries from participants; "Bringing all actors on the table for Dialogue", "Women should be involve in the dialogue process", were some of the recommendations suggested at the end of the activity.
Participants had to work in groups, do some brainstorming about the role youths in the return of Peace in the Region, ensuring that youths can together work for sustainable Peace.
The Ministry of External Relations incharge of Cooperation with the Commonwealth, gave certificates of recognition to all it's participants in Bamenda, a tool to boost the moral of the stakeholders, civil society Organization and other actors to carry Peace messages to the masses.
