African Youth Day : Youth Affairs Minister Cautions Youths About Opportunities

Celebrating African Youth Day Against the Backdrop of Development Issues Affairs, Youth Minister reminds young people on African Youth Day to seize multiple opportunities offered to them, harness ideas and develop their own immediate communities.

The 21st edition of the African Youth Day was celebrated on October 1, 2021 in Cameroon, together with all the member countries of the African Union, under the theme: "Securing the future today".

Solutions led by young people to build the Africa "we want" could be quite challenging and it is within this framework that the Youth Affairs Minsiter, Mounouna Foutsou, underlined during the special face-to-face and video conference hangout that marked this celebration.

“Evocative, because it reminds us of what we doubt, that we already know: that young people are the foundation on which the future of our country, our continent must be built on"MINJEC.

"Theme is an invitation for the youths to take hold of the future of this country, through their ideas and innovations capable of producing significant changes in our companies, thus stimulate the development we want. " Mounouna Foutsou, Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education.

The State Clerk also indicated that it was for them to seize the opportunities offered to them in order to facilitate their social and economic integration, as well as their contributions to construction and inclusive development, sustainable nation.


This platform for exchange, discussion and sharing of experience made it possible to highlight the initiatives of young people from the ten (10) Regions in relation to the theme of the celebration.

These young peoplea were able to express themselves, in order to highlight their actions and experiences on leadership and their constructive approach to development.

It is also important to underline that this hangout organized within the framework of the initiative "Youth Connekt Cameroon '' on the sidelines of the celebration of this edition of the African Youth Day, was a stopover to take a retrospective look.

Involving young people in the design and development of solutions, projecting them for the future by identifying various sectors of interest, was a way of encouraging them to get involved.

Established in 2006, African Youth Day has been celebrated on November 1 of each year since 2006. An opportunity especially for African leaders to harness the potential of young people and take advantage of them to improve the lives of those living on the continent.
