MINJEC Celebrates Youth Excellence: World Scrabble Champion received in Audience



The World champion of Scrabble, tittle has been conferred on Éric Salvador Tchouyo, in a “classic” category by opposing another Cameroonian, Amédée Assomo, the President of the Scrabble Federation in Cameroon.

This was on October 26, 2021, in Savoie, France, during the World Classic Scrabble Championships.


MINJEC has expressed satisfaction, who received in audience the world champion of French-speaking scrabble, this March 18, 2022. “Your act falls within what we call youth excellence", MINJEC's comment to chanpion.

"This is part of what we call Civic and Entrepreneurial Moral Rearmament, which consists of instilling in our young Cameroonians this fighting spirit of the Indomitable Lion”, underlined the Minister of Youth and Civic Education, Mounouna Foutsou.

For MINJEC, "it is a model to inspire his young peers in the spirit of being the Winner".

During the 49th World Scrabble Championships, Cameroon particularly distinguished itself by managing to raise two members of its team to the final.

Indeed, after dismissing the French, Belgians and Canadians from his path, Mr. Tchouyo came through in the final by winning this competition in which more than 600 players took part.


Accountant by profession, the champion succeeds the Canadian Francis Desjardins and offers Cameroon its first world trophy in the discipline. The purpose of this audience was to present the World Champion medal of Scrabble to the Minister of Youth and Civic Education, Mounouna Foutsou.

A presentation that was followed with a congratulatory letter from the President of the Republic of Cameroon, HE Paul Biya via the Minister of Arts and Culture.

In view of Mr. Tchouyo's prowess, the Minister recommends finding an activity that he can sponsor.

Like Scrabble, which could encourage many people to improve their writing.

"Your commitment is recognized by the Head of State, I hope that you will get in touch with the Director of Civic Education and National Integration at the end of this audience", MINJEC.

"We must stimulate young people more in this game which is a holy and educational leisure. Instead of going to smoke Chichia, we win twice playing Scrabble", adds Mounouna Foutsou.

MINJEC used the opportunity to comprehensively present the tools for implementing the support of young people by this ministerial department.

Moral Rearmament, Civic Education, Volunteering, Entrepreneurship, Associative Life, Cooperation, Projects, Monitoring and Communication are at the center of his statement.

Being, in a logic of synergy, he recalls that everyone is associated with the steps taken in favor of young people.

Satisfaction and honor to be received by the Minjec, the champion advises transcendence in the face of adversity. Attached to his land, he continues;

“I cried when I saw Cameroon on the podium. Indeed, RFI radio and TV5 came to Cameroon to satisfy their curiosity because they were surprised that it was a Cameroonian who reached the top”.

“I can reassure you that I will be the spokesperson with my peers. I will relay what the MINJEC is doing,” said Tchouyo Éric Salvador.

As a reminder, Scrabble is a board game that stirs the brain. It consists of forming crosswords on a grid with letters of different values, the colored boxes on the grid allowing the value of the letters and words to be multiplied.

The winner is the player with the most points at the end of the game. So: Two to four players, seven letters of the alphabet drawn by lot. Objective: Score the most points by placing words on the grid in front of you.
