Bali Council Reflects on 2024 Achievements, defining road map for 2025

On April 10, 2025, members of the Bali Municipal Council in Northwest Cameroon gathered for a crucial meeting to review the achievements and challenges of 2024, a year that tested their resilience but also showcased their commitment to the community.

Despite facing significant hurdles, the council successfully executed projects totaling 650,442,952 CFA francs, a testament to their determination and hard work.

During the session, councillors unanimously approved the 2024 Administrative and Management Accounts, highlighting the leadership of Mayor Wandum Ernest.

His steadfast commitment to the municipality's development has been a guiding light during challenging times, earning him praise from his councillors.

Achievements

One of the standout successes of the year was the remarkable improvement in electricity supply, which soared to over 90% execution. This achievement brought much-needed relief to households and businesses alike, enhancing the quality of life in Bali according to residents of Bali.

The council made significant strides in upgrading the water network infrastructure, reaching over 60% execution. These improvements are vital for the community, particularly in a region where access to clean water is essential for health and well-being.

In the agricultural sector, initiatives aimed at supporting local farmers and improving farm-to-market roads marked substantial progress. These efforts not only bolster the local economy but also strengthen the community's agricultural base.

While celebrating these successes, Mayor Wandum candidly addressed the challenges that lie ahead. Key issues include ensuring the full resumption of schools and providing sufficient potable water.

These problems have been exacerbated by insecurity, which has adversely affected local revenue collection and hindered the council's ability to address pressing needs.

Ongoing Infrastructural Projects

Several important infrastructural projects are currently underway, reflecting the council's commitment to sustainable development:

-Borehole Construction at the Youth Center in Gwan-Bali
-Fencing around GNS Bali
- Grading of the CCU/Ngwandikang road (4 km)
-Market Shed Construction at Bawock
-Meat Sheds at Njenka Hausa
- A solar-powered borehole at Njenka Hausa
- Bridges connecting Ngalingom and Nkombella, as well as along the Bali/Ngygenbuh road

These projects are part of broader initiatives aimed at boosting local economic development and job creation, particularly benefiting farming groups, community interest groups (CIGs), and schools.

As the council sets its sights on 2025, several priorities have emerged:

- Substantial improvements in the water supply network
- Effective resumption of education in the municipality
- Completion of all integrated health centers in Bali
- Enhanced local revenue collection

Mayor Wandum Ernest emphasized the importance of collaboration among councillors and the newly established neighborhood committees. By working together, they can identify and budget for future projects that will continue to uplift the community.
