On September 10th 2019, The Head of State said: “Those
who voluntarily lay down their arms and place themselves at the disposal of the
Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) Centers have nothing to
fear.”
Ikom Polycarp, accepted and yielded to the Head of State call,
and publicly confessed during the installation ceremony of the 33rd Senior
Divisional Officer for Menchum.
Ikom
Polycarp, an ex-Ambazonian fighter, was killed about 5 hours later, after being
welcomed back home by The Governor of the North-West Region. He was the President
of commercial bike riders in wun. Confusion now fills the minds of those who
saw and heard Polycarp denounce separatists’s activities during the
installation ceremony of incoming Senior Divisional Officer, Abdoulahi Aliou. His butchered body was found in the
early hours of October 17, 2019 in a nearby bush leaving so many questions
unanswered thus, stirring up emotions. Investigations have
been opened to bring the culprits to book and shade lights to this other
gruesome killing in Menchum Division.
