Barrister Akumah Miranda has been re-elected President of the Board of Directors of the (NtaCCUL), following a highly contested election held during the union’s General Assembly in .
Her re-election comes just a year after she first assumed the presidency. With her previous mandate coming to an end, Barrister Akumah Miranda had to first secure a seat on the Board of Directors before contesting again for the presidency.
With two vacancies on the Board, she was overwhelmingly elected alongside Chi Charles, a solar and technology engineer, to join the Board of Directors.
Barrister Akumah Miranda then faced stiff competition for the presidency from the Board Secretary Fru Doris and Board Member Chi Chrisantus. After an intense campaign that saw supporters moving energetically across the , members of the credit union turned out in large numbers to vote.
At the end of the polls, Barrister Akumah Miranda emerged victorious with 1,955 votes, defeating Fru Doris who scored 1,199 votes and automatically becomes Vice President of the Board. Chi Chrisantus placed third with 456 votes.
Barrister Akumah Miranda’s victory is widely attributed to her impressive performance during her first year as President of the Board. Under her leadership, the union recorded significant improvements, including a reduction in loan delinquency, a stronger financial balance sheet, and the continued payment of 6 percent interest on members’ shares and savings.
She also successfully completed the digitization drive of the credit union, further strengthening its operations and service delivery.
Following her re-election, Barrister Akumah Miranda will continue to steer the affairs of NtaCCUL for the next three years.
Members of the credit union celebrated the outcome, expressing confidence in her leadership and vision for the continued growth of the institution.
