(NtaCCUL) has reinforced its position as one of the leading cooperative credit unions in Cameroon and the wider CEMAC region.
During its Annual General Assembly held at the on March 1, 2026, the union announced that it paid a total of 4,250,059,334 FCFA as interest on members’ savings for the year 2025.
The President of the Board of Directors, , revealed that the institution intends to maintain a 6% interest rate on savings in 2026, representing an estimated payout of 4,520,612,311 FCFA.
According to her, the attractive interest rate has contributed significantly to the rapid growth of the union’s membership. Membership increased from 104,107 in 2024 to 117,213 in 2025, representing 13,106 new members within one year.
Bar. Akumah Bih Miranda highlighted several technological innovations introduced by the institution. These include the USSD banking service and a mobile banking application, both launched in 2024, as well as the introduction of GIMAC cards.
“Members can easily apply for GIMAC cards at any of our branches, enabling them to withdraw money from any bank or microfinance institution across the CEMAC region,” she explained.
To facilitate the use of these digital services, NtaCCUL has established specialized support centers in all its branches to assist members with the mobile app, USSD platform, and GIMAC card services.
Looking ahead, the credit union plans to expand its network by opening additional branches, acquire eight ATM machines, and construct a three-storey building in Bertoua. Security has also been strengthened across branches with the deployment of security personnel and installation of surveillance cameras following attacks on four branches.
Among other milestones achieved in 2025 were the official inauguration of the Limbe and Ngaoundéré branches, which began operations in 2024 and have since recorded significant growth in membership and business activity.
In addition, a new branch in Bonamoussadi, Douala, was officially opened on February 25, 2026, while the Buea branch has undergone a complete renovation as part of the institution’s modernization drive.
With these developments, NtaCCUL continues to expand its services and strengthen its position within Cameroon’s cooperative financial secteur.
