Youth Affairs Minister visits Baligham, Menndankwe: Inaugurates Multipurpose Youth Centre



The Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, was on a 2 day working visit in the Northwest region of Cameroon; he went to Baligham in Santa Sub division and to Bamendankwe in Bamenda I sub division where he inaugurated a multifunctional youth promotion center in each of these subdivisions and later launch Civil activities ahead of National Day celebrations in the Northwest region.



The Multifunctional Youth Promotion Center of Baligham was inaugurated on May 11 2023. Upon his arrival in Santa, capital of Baligham, the Minister was welcomed by Northwest and West Governors; Adolf LeLe Lafrique and Fonka Augustine, Northwest Regional Delegate of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, Mbanwie Odilia Fri, traditional authorities and the elite of Santa sub division.

The mayor of Santa Council, Samje Elvise, showed gratitude to the Minister and entourage for the efforts made in his visit to Baligham for the launching of the Multipurpose Youth center, an economic tour that gives room for youths who form a larger part of the population, to acquire training.

According to the Mayor, Baligham has been earmarked as that locality which is on the path of development as indicated by MINJEC during his last visit to the Northwest region.

"The municipality is amazed at the availability of this center which contributes to enhancing the construction program of the locality", Mayor of Santa Council.

The head of the center, Fongang Tikum Eugene thanked the minister for this donation and noted that 21 young people have already benefited from the three-year special youth plan in the area and noted that the establishment of this multifunctional center is creating greater enthusiasm among young people.

Youth Affairs Minister, Mounouna Foutsou indicated that this inauguration ceremony is in line with the government's desire to build infrastructures nationwide and particularly in the North West region for the empowerment of young people in order to guarantee the growth of local youth.

"This building was built with modern equipment in order to meet current standards. Dear youths, come and get what the government of the Republic has in store for you under the leadership of HE President Paul Biya. Do not hesitate to get closer to the center for appropriate support while you are struggling to find your place in the sun”, Youth Affairs Minister.

The cutting of the symbolic ribbon by the minister followed by a guided tour of the brand new multifunctional centre. At the end of this inauguration, the delegation led by Mounouna Foutsou will go to the town hall of Santa where the minister will be dressed in the "Atogoh", the traditional dress of the locality.

Similar activity took place in Mendankwe, accompanied and guided by the Northwest Regional Delegate of Youth affairs and Civic education, Mbanwie Odilia Fri in the Presence of NW Governor, the Fon of Menndankwe and other development stakeholders, the multipurpose youth center was inaugurated, a facility for the training of young people in different activities to help them carve out a place for themselves in society.

Youth affairs Minister, urged youths to make the most out of the center, made available to them by the Head of State with a view to their employability. He emphasizing that the center presents a valuable tool to help young people to self-employment.

The Mayor of Bamenda I Council, Mbigha felix expressed satisfaction over the realization of the project and revealed that like Oliver Twist, Bamendankwe request for more.

"There is need for the development of a playground of the said center and the need to solve employment problems", Bamenda I Council Mayor.
