Another Fire Incident: No Firefighter Vehicle Available

In the early hours of 28 January 2025 morning, residents of Back Savannah, behind  Commercial Avenue, were left to fend for themselves as a fire broke out at a local bar. The blaze ignited around 3 a.m. and rapidly spread to adjacent storage buildings.

At dawn, the community went into action, attempting to save the situation. Neighbors worked tirelessly to remove goods from the affected stores while using sand and water to control the flames. The situation turned chaotic as they struggled against the spreading fire.

The Police arrived at the scene at about 5:30 a.m, residents were frustrated to learn that the fire brigade was unable to respond. After multiple calls, it was revealed that the fire truck was out of commission.

This incident has raised serious concerns in that affected community. With the frequency of fire outbreaks in Bamenda, residents are questioning what it will take to ensure that adequate firefighting resources are available.

The community is calling for immediate action to improve the fire safety infrastructure to prevent such incidents in the future.

It is alleged that some victims of the main market fire incident are equally victims of this outbreak.
