CAMTEL-MTN collabo takes Blue Network services nationwide



The launching of the commercial National Roaming Services in partnership with MTN Cameroon took place on December 14, 2022.
The partnership ensures that CAMTEL users across national territory can stay glued to mobile network simply by switching to MTN network services.



The launch took place in the presence of Paul Naseri Bea, Governor Centre region, the Senior Vice President of the National Assembly, Hon. Hilarion Eating and Chairman of the Board of Directors at CAMTEL, Mohamadou Saoudi.


The local roaming services was launched in Nkoteng, Upper-Sanaga Division-Centre region. Within the framework of this partnership between the Cameroon Telecommunications mobile network and MTN Cameroon, the local roaming service has been enabled in a first phase across more than 200 sites. It would progressively expand as agreed by the two network operators.


The Director General of CAMTEL, Mrs Judith Yah Sunday Achidi expressed satisfaction on this new endeavour and affirmed that it is always the wish of CAMTEL to grow Blue Network services across the country and this time, making MTN Cameroon a partner.

"We are extremely pleased with the launch of the local roaming on MTN Cameroon's network. This service will allow CAMTEL customers to access network services in areas already covered by MTN Cameroon, where CAMTEL is not currently present. As CAMTEL we have the ambition to continue to grow our mobile telephony service and footprint, reason we selected MTN Cameroon as partner in this regard. We look forward to more of our customers enjoying voice and data services across various regions," CAMTEL GM explained.

Yah Sunday said the concession agreements granted  CAMTEL by government permits the company to now take mobile telecoms services to the doorsteps of all Cameroonians. 

While commenting as a service provider to CAMTEL, the Chief Executive Officer, CEO of MTN Cameroon, Mrs Mitwa Kaemba Ng'ambi said launching the local roaming is solutions oriented to ease difficulties most CAMTEL users may face

"At MTN, our core belief is that everyone deserves the benefits of a modern connected life and see it as our responsibility as a key player in the industry to continuously seek out innovative solutions that will increase the usage and penetration of connectivity solutions across the country. Local roaming is one such solution which we are happy to Launch with CAMTEL," MTN Cameroon CEO stated.

The completion of the local Roaming project is a concrete manifestation of the win-win partnership between CAMTEL and MTN Cameroon, under the auspices of the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications.


The milestone is fruits of collaboration between two women leading digital transformation in Cameroon; Achidi Judith General Manager of Cameroon Telecommunications, CAMTEL and Mitwa Kaemba Ng'ambi, CEO of MTN Cameroon.
