Local Administration: Belo Council resolves to target Poverty, Hunger



Belo Council held a budgetary session to vote for the 2023 budget, projecting education, road maintenance, assisting farmers with agricultural inputs, offering livestock support to the local masses as some of their priority projects for 2023.


Mayor Ngong Innocent has described Belo council as "a bee hive of activities and a vast construction site", that has earned the attention of the Head of State President Paul Biya, who is ensuring that the council meets up with planned projects.

The budget for 2023 targets sustainable development goals:
#Operation No poverty
#Zero Hunger
#Quality Education.

"Our Slogan remains "Making Belo Great Again"s. It is a decentralization policy to develop Belo Municipality. This vision
embodies programs and projects in each sector. In 2023 we will focus on poverty alleviation which is a United Nations SDG1. In this reflection we will embark on
road maintenance at Mejang, Ngemsiho where the first primary school will equally be constructed", Mayor Ngong Innocent, Belo Council. 



The 2023 budget however emphasized on improving the livestock sector to CIGs which goes a long way to develop the
economy and improve the standard of living. The budget stands at 659,900,000 francs cfa which is balanced in revenue and
expenditure.

Recurrent Revenue stands at 363.400.000 francs cfa while the 
Investment Revenue stands at 296,500,000 francs cfa. As for expenditure; Recurrent Expenditure stands at 336 400.000 francs cfa and Investment expenditure as 323,500.000 francs cfa, giving a total of 659.900.000 francs cfa.

Belo Council is located in Belo Sub Division in Boyo Division of the North West Region of Cameroon. It is one of the 34 councils in the Northwest region and has been one of the seat for political unrest for the past 6years of the Anglophone crisis. 

Nothwithstanding the challenges the council has faced, councilors and council staff, other stakeholders have been called to give in maximum support to ensure that projects envisaged are realized, with other priorities attained. 

They year 2022 records some great achievements at the Belo Council, as it was ranked the 9th position in terms of development amongst other councils in the Northwest region and the Mayor earned for himself a PhD, adding more feathers to himself as a developer and to the council as a whole.
