The North West Development Authority (MIDENO) held a press conference on 4th December 2024 to assess the performance of General Manager Cletus Anye Matoya over the past five years.
This event provided journalists the opportunity to ask questions and gain insights into MIDENO's operations.
During the conference, the Director of the Technical Department, Ndeh Emmanuel shared accomplishment of MIDENO for the year 2024.
Some key highlights mentioned were:
- Support to Farmers: MIDENO provided improved planting materials, processing 7.9 tons of enhanced maize seeds for distribution to local farmers.
- Farm Seeds established: New farm seeds were set up in the Santa and Menchum divisions to boost agricultural productivity.
-Completed Projects: Several initiatives from 2023 were finalized, including the construction of an open hanger for heavy-duty machinery at Nkwen.
-Coffee Sector Revitalization: A new coffee facility was built to encourage local coffee consumption, supporting the North West Cooperative Association and revitalizing the coffee sector.
-Post-Harvest Infrastructure: Investments were made in infrastructure to assist farmers after harvest.
Mr. Ndeh's presentation revealed MIDENO's involvement in the Nkambe Council's waste management plan.
This innovative project is currently in its pilot phase, with plans to expand to other councils if successful. Notably, Nkambe is recognized as the second cleanest town in Cameroon, according to the 2024 Clean City Contest.
As one of PULCCA's implementing partners, MIDENO aims to reach 10,600 farmers over two years.
In its first year alone, the organization has already engaged over 6,000 farmers, earning recognition as the top-performing partner during the project's mid-term review.
General Manager, Cletus Anye Matoya took this opportunity to reassure staff and retired personnel.
"We cannot preach development without taking care of ourselves. We are committed to ensuring our collaborators are comfortable, and despite challenges, we will continue to improve."
He further emphasized that there ongoing efforts to ensure that all personnel receive their entitled benefits in the near future.
This press conference showcased MIDENO's achievements and reinforced its commitment to supporting farmers and enhancing community development in the North West region of Cameroon.
