Youths in Ndu have rallied behind their president, leading the youth wing of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) for Donga Mantung II, to give their candidate Paul Biya an overwhelming victory for the October 12 Presidential Elections.
President of the Youth wing, Njobi Theodore assuming leadership of the Ndu CPDM youth section in 2020 during the reorganization of the party’s grassroots organs, Theodore Njobi says this is his first presidential election at the helm and one that he considers decisive. “It is not only about ensuring that H.E. President Paul Biya wins here in Ndu, but also that he does so with style and by a convincing margin,” he affirmed.
The Donga Mantung II Section – Ndu alone counts 27 sub-sections, and according to the finalized electoral register, the municipality enrolled around 27,000 potential voters, most of whom are young people. Njobi stressed that his mission is to secure the youth vote for President Paul Biya, whose interventions since 2018 have spurred major developmental changes in Ndu.
2018: Appointment of Mafor Judith Yah Sunday Epse Achidi as Camtel GM
While speaking to young people in Mbiyeh, Kakar, Tallah, and Jirt, Njobi highlighted the impact of Mafor Achidi’s appointment as Camtel General Manager, describing it as a turning point for Ndu’s youth. “Her coming lifted young people from unemployment, poverty, and despair,” he emphasized.
A youth who overheard his remarks nodded in agreement, adding that thanks to Mafor Yah Sunday’s initiatives, “over 215 young men and women from Ndu now have jobs, can support their families, and are building their own futures.”
Beyond employment, Mafor Yah Sunday has also invested in sports, organizing an annual tournament across Donga Mantung Division to keep youths engaged and nurture future football legends like Roger Milla, Samuel Eto’o, and others. The tournament has since expanded beyond football and handball to include women’s football, volleyball, and horse racing.
At the conclusion of the event, she sponsored a free health campaign in Ndu subdivision, during which over 800 consultations were carried out at the district hospital, with treatment provided free of charge.
In the area of education, Mafor Yah Sunday launched the second phase of her scholarship scheme, fully covering school fees for at least 1,000 children across all levels.
With these efforts in mind, Njobi asked: “What more do we have to complain about? This election is our chance as Ndu youth to thank President Paul Biya for giving us a mother who continues to respond to our needs.”
2020: CPDM’s Takeover of Ndu Council from SDF
The twin legislative and municipal elections of February 2020 marked the end of SDF’s 27-year leadership at the Ndu council, as CPDM seized control in what was described as a dramatic and much-needed shift. Critics had long decried the SDF era as unproductive, pointing to its failure to deliver meaningful development.
Under the leadership of Mayor Alhadji Borno Abdou Kanfon, Ndu has since witnessed a new wave of progress. Roads have been tarred, schools built, health centers rehabilitated, and water and electricity extended to more communities. The most vulnerable groups have also received direct support.
Currently, the first phase of the Kumbo–Mbiyeh Ring Road is nearing completion, while an extension of the project will add three more kilometers of tarred road within the municipality.
Njobi further noted that politics in Ndu has become more tangible under CPDM. “The new council building is proof of what we can achieve, and now, a modern market with 120 shops and modern facilities has already been contracted,” he explained.
He concluded with a call to action: “If we truly want to see more development, this is the time to decide wisely. And that decision means voting for President Paul Biya. To my brothers and sisters who were misled into the bushes, I appeal to you: come back, join us, and let us together build the ‘Ndu York City’ we all dream of.”
