Ahead of 58th Edition of National Youth Day Celebration, Youth Affairs Minister strategizes for fanfare celebration

The official launch of Cameroon Youth Day activities will take place this year in the locality of Nsem, Haute Sanaga department, Center Region, from January 31 to February 1, 2024.

The announcement was made by the minister of youth and civic education, who is also president of the national organizing committee, during a press briefing he gave this Friday, January 26, 2024 in Yaoundé.

The theme for this year's celebration has been revealed, it encourages the active participation of young people in accelerating the growth of our economy, particularly through entrepreneurship and innovation, in order to reduce its dependence on imports, by developing its own production and consumption capacity.

The Minister called on youth to increase patriotic actions, noting “that economic patriotism can be crucial. In fact, it is a question of young people in their activities promoting the consumption of local products, supporting national businesses and sustainable development, in a spirit of national pride.”

Minjec explains that the fact for the President of the Republic, Paul BIYA, to retain this issue of import substitution which he had already addressed in his Message to the nation of December 31, is a sign of the interest that he gives to this policy and should be perceived by young people as a call that he is making to them as major players in the structural transformation of our economy, as set out in the SND30.

During this communication from Minjec, as a prelude to this celebration, the location of the launch was also revealed. This is the locality of Nsem in the Haute Sanaga department, Center Region. The celebration of the year 58 of Youth Day, it should be noted, according to the head of this ministerial department will be dotted with innovation.

Awareness caravans are also planned to inform as many young people as possible, even without access to the Internet. The objective is clear: no one must be left behind during this flagship meeting of Cameroonian youth.

A Youth Festival under high security
Faced with the fears expressed by some about the security of a gathering of 5,000 young people, the Minister wanted to be reassuring.

The security forces are fully mobilized, in coordination with the various ministerial departments, to ensure that this event takes place in a calm climate. We can bet that this joint effort will allow young people to joyfully celebrate their annual celebration.

In the end, this 2024 edition of the Cameroonian Youth Festival promises to be particularly rich and innovative, between a global camp, an artistic parade and the creation of a youth senate.
