The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Célestine KETCHA Courtès carried out a working visit to Bafoussam, Mbouda and Dchang in the West Region, to inspect construction sites in urban areas in preparation of the African Cup of Nations 2021.

The Africa Cup of Nation 2021 to be hosted by Cameroon in 2022, is scheduled to be the 33rd edition organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The tournament is scheduled to be hosted by Cameroon and will take place from 9 January to 6 February 2022, though it was originally scheduled to be played in June and July 2021 but the CAF announced on 15 January 2020 that due to unfavourable climatic conditions during that period, the tournament would take place from 9 January to 6 February 2021.

On 30 June 2020, the CAF moved the tournament for the third time to January 2022 following the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic across the continent.

It is in prelude to this tournament that the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Célestine KETCHA Courtes paid a visit to the West region with focus on road access to sports infrastructures dedicated to the upcoming games.

It emerges from this descent that the access roads to the stadium are estimated at 98% because of the Tobe -Bafoussam section.

The Visit of MINDHU in Bafoussam, West Region of Cameroon is to examine and accelerate works in preparation to this grand hosting in 2022, which will be due in a few months.

The Minister tells press that her visit is meant to rate ongoing works, understand the challenges faced by workers and address them, in order to speed up the task given.

She also visited some municipalities and made some recommendations to the respective Mayors, to ensure that those on the field deliver the goods.
